RAMBLER German Shepherd Dog Young Male for sale in Norfolk, Virginia

RAMBLER's story
Rambler is a handsome, young German Shepherd that is just 18 months old and weighs 70 pounds.  This dog is all about having fun and going full bore.  He is a wonderful dog that had pretty much raised himself and never had anyone tell him what to do... and so far,he's done an ok job at it.   Rambler is a snuggle love and he loves people! Rambler is incredibly smart, he needs someone who can take that high IQ and teach him all he needs to know. Smart dogs are not the easy dogs, as many people assume :-)   He is looking for someone with German Shepherd (or breed like) experience, who knows and understands the breed. Someone to polish him up into the best dog he can be! A strong (not physically strong) dog owner, who knows that the owner is the alpha, an owner that will give him the physical and mental stimulation that he needs to be a healthy and happy dog.  Rambler lives in his foster home with other dogs and most of the time all is well, however, he is easily over stimulated by all the action. He ignores the little old dog that doesn't bother anyone :-)  Even though he seems to enjoy other dogs, we do believe he would be happiest being your one and only.  Therefore, we are looking for a home where Rambler will be the only dog.  Rambler is a total best friend to his humans. (his head is on my leg, chewing a tennis ball as I type this).   He is not a fan of cats AT ALL, so absolutely no cats in his future home!  Although he loves children, he is young and can be bouncy, so we would not recommend him to a home with small children. He just doesn't realize his size.  He is working on his leash training and doing fabulous.  He loves to go for walks through the neighborhood with his foster mom and see all that is going on around him.  Rambler knows basic commands such as sit, shake, down. He is extremely toy motivated which makes him very trainable. And, did I already mention that this boy is smart?!! Probably smarter than most of us :-)  Rambler's perfect family will have a fenced yard, be committed to continuing his training and will take him on adventures! Dog parks will not be his thing, as there are many dogs in the dog park that are unpredictable and again...just too over stimulating!   We think he would excel at some type of agility training too! He would love to go hiking, running or anything fun! He jumps right in the car and is ready to go. Rambler loves the water hose and spigot...turn those on and watch him dive right in ! He will play ball until he is walking, but he will still get the ball.  He is 100% housebroken and crate trained.  Rambler is not recommended for first time dog owners.   If you're looking for the easy dog who just hangs out on the couch all day and then take a leisurely stroll around town, this is not the dog for you. He is fabulous for the right person.
